Counters
The objective of this experiment is to design and analyze different counter circuits. You will be able to design synchronous counters, asynchronous counters, and specialized counting circuits.
- Binary Counters: Build a 2-bit asynchronous up counter from J-K flip-flops (Practice task 1)
- Ring Counters: Construct a 3-bit circular shift register counter from D flip-flops for sequence generation (Practice task 2)
- Frequency Dividers: Use the stages of a counter to divide the clock frequency by 4 (Practice task 3)
- BCD and Modulo-N Counters: Understand, from the theory, how decimal (0 to 9) and other custom count sequences are obtained
Through this experiment, students will gain practical experience in sequential circuit design and understand the fundamental principles of digital counting systems implementation in hardware.
